Jarosinski & Vaugoin has been producing silver cutlery , tableware and everyday items as well as jewelry and art objects for over 150 years .

history

The Vaugoin family probably came to Vienna in the wake of Napoleon at the beginning of the 19th century. Carl Vaugoin founded his silver manufacture there in 1847, which specialized in heavy hand-cut table utensils. The company became successful and took part in the Vienna World Exhibition in 1873 . Vaugoin received several award medals at the exhibition. His successor was his son Jean Vaugoin, who signed an inheritance contract with the Polish entrepreneur Ladislaus Jarosinski in 1901 . Jarosinski specialized in the production of heavy, hand-cut cutlery, which thus complemented the product range. Around the time the company received its double name L. Jarosinski & J. Vaugoin . In 1908 the company moved to Zieglergasse 24. Orders were carried out for the Bulgarian, Romanian and Greek courts, but the company was never appointed official supplier to the court .

The outbreak of the First World War and the collapse of the monarchy brought difficult times, but the company was still able to hold its own. In 1919 Karl Vaugoin joined the family business and expanded the product range to include smaller bowls , utensils and cups . On August 27, 1926, the company received the irrevocable state award .

In 1929, Karl Vaugoin took over the company in the third generation. He worked closely with the Wiener Werkstätte under Josef Hoffmann . The company was represented at the Werkbund exhibition and the world exhibition in 1937 in Paris and the Expo 1958 in Brussels.

After the Second World War Jarosinski & Vaugoin made a replica of the thunder fountain out of silver as a gift from Austria to the Soviet Union on the occasion of the signing of the Austrian State Treaty in 1955. In 1967, engineer Hans Vaugoin took over the management in the fourth generation. He expanded the business area to include a wholesale business with small silver goods and pocket articles.

On the occasion of the state visit of the British Queen Elizabeth II in 1969 , the company made three replicas of Cellini's golden Saliera . One was presented to the Queen as a gift from the City of Vienna, the second replica was exhibited in the Vienna City Hall and the third remained in the possession of the Vaugoin family. For the Great Synagogue in Jerusalem , the "Lamp of Eternal Light" based on a design by the architect Dr. Alexander Friedman made. In 2008, Jarosinski & Vaugoin manufactured table accessories such as butter dishes for the Malaysian queen through a local subcontractor . Silverware is also made for Arab royalty.

Victor and Jean-Paul Vaugoin took over management in the fifth generation in autumn 2003. After the Saliera was stolen from the Kunsthistorisches Museum in 2003, ten more pieces of the Saliera were made as replicas. One of them achieved proceeds of € 10,000 at an auction for Licht ins Dunkel in February 2004 .

In 2008 Jarosinski & Vaugoin collaborated on designs with the artist Ernst Fuchs . The company is also involved in luxury trade fairs .
