Jaroslav Kvapil (composer)
Jaroslav Kvapil (born April 21, 1892 in Fryšták (German free town) in the Zlín administrative district ; † February 18, 1958 in Brno ) was a Czech composer.
Leoš Janáček's pupil was director of the Czech Philharmonic School from 1920 to 1924 , then professor of piano playing and composition at the Brno Conservatory, and finally from 1947 at the Janáček Music Academy.
He composed four symphonies , two violin concertos, a piano and an oboe concerto, an opera ( Das Maimärchen , 1940–43), a melodrama and an oratorio , chamber music works, cantatas , choral works and songs .
