Jaroslav Pánek

Jaroslav Pánek (2013)

Jaroslav Pánek (born January 23, 1947 in Prague ) is a Czech historian . His main research interests are Czech and Central European modern history. He is a member of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic .

After studying history and Slavic studies from 1965 to 1970 at the Philosophical Faculty of Charles University in Prague , Pánek worked as an archivist and later as head of the archive. In 1976 he joined the Institute of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, where he is still working today. From 1998 to 2005 he was director of the Academy's historical institute. Since 2009 Pánek has been the head of the Český historický ústav v Římě (Czech Historical Institute in Rome).
