Jas Gawronski

Jas Gawronski (born February 7, 1936 in Vienna ) is an Italian journalist and politician .

Life

Gawronski, the son of Jan Gawronski and Luciana Frassati Gawronska , graduated from the University of Rome with a law degree . From 1959 to 1962 he was Eastern Europe correspondent for the daily Il Giorno . After that he was responsible for the design of RAI's journalistic programs from Vietnam , India , the United States and Eastern Europe until 1966 . From 1966 to 1977 he was a correspondent for RAI from New York , then from Paris , Moscow and finally from Warsaw until 1981 . From 1985 to 1992 he was responsible for political and scientific programs for the Fininvest television stations . In 1989 he became an employee of the daily La Stampa , where he is also a member of the board of directors.

Gawronski joined the Partito Repubblicano Italiano in 1981. For this he sat in the municipal council of Turin , in the regional council of Piedmont and from 1981 to 1994 in the European Parliament . After leaving the European Parliament, he moved to Forza Italia and became the press spokesman for Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi . From 1996 to 1999 he was a member of the Senate , from 1999 to 2009 he was once again in the European Parliament.
