Jasmina Prpić

Jasmina Prpić (* 1954 in Banja Luka , Yugoslavia ) is a German - Bosnian lawyer and women's rights activist . In 2007, she and her colleagues founded the Lawyers Without Borders Association , which she has been chairwoman of since then.

Life

Jasmina Prpić was born in Banja Luka in Yugoslavia (now Bosnia and Herzegovina) in 1954. After completing her law studies in Sarajevo (1972–1976), she worked in Banja Luka in the city administration and from 1980 worked as a judge. In 1990, because of the escalating religious and national conflicts in what was then Yugoslavia, she resigned her judicial office and worked as a lawyer . In 1992 she fled to Germany . Since then she has lived in Freiburg im Breisgau . There she works as a legal advisor for foreign law and as a translator and interpreter .

From 2005 to 2010 she was a member of the Migrants Advisory Council of the City of Freiburg.

Jasmina Prpić is married and has two daughters.

Awards

Jasmina Prpić is the winner of the Women in Europe - Germany 2012 award of the European Movement Germany . She was awarded the prize on September 19, 2012 in Munich .

On May 15, 2013, Pripć was awarded the Maria Otto Prize of the German Bar Association (DAV) together with two board colleagues from Lawyers Without Borders in Berlin .

On March 11, 2015, Pripć was awarded the Elisabeth Norgall Prize of the International Women's Club of Frankfurt eV in Frankfurt am Main .
