Jason Roy Brown (born May 18, 1982 in Southwark , England ) is a Welsh football goalkeeper who has played for Cambridge United since 2013 .

Career

Brown began his career at first division club Charlton Athletic , where he played in his youth. In 2001 he moved to Gillingham FC to get match practice, as there was strong competition between the goalkeepers at Charlton. Although he also began his time at Gillingham on the bench, but played the last ten games of the season due to some poor performance by the then number one Vince Bartram . Due to his consistently good style of play, he soon established himself as a regular goalkeeper.

During the 2002–03 season, Brown played 44 games in all competitions and was eventually nominated for the Welsh Under-21 national team. Due to a number of injuries and form depths, he was used less often in the next two seasons, but still played 38 league appearances during this time.

At the beginning of the 2005/06 season, in which Gilham played after relegation from the Football League Championship in the English third division , Brown appeared as a regular goalkeeper, but the then manager Neale Cooper signed the experienced goalkeeper Tony Bullock from Dundee United . But a knee injury by Bullock in the pre-season left the door open for Brown, who solidified his place in the team with good performances. Brown's good form and consistently good performance were rewarded with a nomination for the Welsh national football team .

Cooper's release in November 2005 also marked the end of Bullock at Gillingham. It was sold to FC St. Mirren in January 2006 . Brown had confirmed his position as the goalkeeper at the end of the season once again. In the same season he was voted player of the season by the fans and was nominated for the friendly against the Basque soccer team , but was not used. He played his first international match in the friendly against Trinidad and Tobago on May 27, 2006.

On June 26, 2006 he was signed by the Blackburn Rovers and has since competed with Peter Enckelman for the post of second goalkeeper. He made his debut for Blackburn Rovers in the 2-1 win against Wigan Athletic on October 1, 2006. He saved a penalty in the game. From September to November 2010, Brown was loaned to Leeds United . He then went - also on loan - to Leyton Orient for a month . From March to June 2011 he was awarded to the Welsh club Cardiff City . In the 2011/12 season he moved to Scotland for Aberdeen FC .
