Jason Lewis

Jason Lewis (* 1967 in Catterick , United Kingdom ) was one of the first people to circumnavigate the world using muscle power. He completed his 13-year circumnavigation of the world in October 2007.

On July 12, 1994, he started his Expedition 360 mission from Greenwich , London and had covered approximately 74,842 kilometers when he ended his expedition after 13 years on October 6, 2007. His boat Moksha (see also Moksha ), about eight meters long , was powered by a pedal. He drove through the English Channel , the Atlantic Ocean , the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean . He covered the country route partly on roller skates , by hike or mountain bike . He was hit by a car in Colorado and broke both of his legs.

Lewis initially financed his project himself. After he had successfully crossed the Atlantic, for example, he exhibited his boat for three months in a shopping mall, collected donations and made people aware of his project. It was only some time later that he was able to win sponsors for his company.

Colin Angus has already circumnavigated the world by muscle power, but not crossed the equator .
