Javier Casas Cuevas (born May 9, 1982 in Bilbao ) is a former Spanish football player .
Player career
Javier Casas is one of Athletic Bilbao's many domestic talents . Like many other players before him, he found his way into the professional Athletics team via CD Baskonia and the second team. He has been a member of this group since 2004 and was also regularly employed. But since there was a chance in the summer of 2007 shortly before the transfer deadline to sign the former top performer Asier del Horno from Valencia CF on loan, a defender had to be removed from the 25-man squad for the season - fate met Casas. Although he would not be allowed to play in official games for a year, he was retained because he is a very good perspective player. In the 2008/09 season he was back in the squad, but was only used twice in the first half of the year. He moved to the Segunda División on loan to Córdoba for the rest of the season . Here he usually sat on the bench and only appeared three times.
After his return he left Bilbao and moved to Cartagena FC . There he was not used in the 2009/10 season . In early March 2010, he moved to CD Guijuelo in the Segunda División B . There he played 13 times and reached with his team in the play-offs the class stay. Then Casas was committed by league rival Deportivo Alavés . In the 2010/11 season he missed promotion with his team in the play-offs. Then he ended his career.
Casas played once for the Basque national team , which was not recognized by FIFA (in a 2-2 draw against Catalonia).
