José Javier Gonzáles Alponte (born May 11, 1939 in Lima ; † April 11, 2018 there ) was a Peruvian football player .

Career

society

Javier Gonzáles began his playing career with the Sport Boys from the port city of Callao . After being loaned to city rivals Unión Callao for a year , he made his debut in the Primera División in 1958 for the Sport Boys . In 1962 he played for a year with Association Chorrillos . He then continued his career until 1968 with the Sport Boys, with whom he was Peruvian runner-up in 1966.

In 1969 he moved to Alianza Lima , where he also won the runner-up in 1971. There he ended his active career in 1973.

National team

Between 1967 and 1970 Javier Gonzáles played 16 international matches for the Peruvian national soccer team , in which he was without a goal.

He made his debut on July 28, 1967 in the 1-0 defeat in a friendly against Uruguay in Lima.

On the occasion of the Soccer World Cup in Mexico in 1970 , he was appointed to the Peruvian squad . In the first round game of the Peruvians against Bulgaria , he came on in the 28th minute for the injured defender Eloy Campos . In the further course of the tournament he was no longer used.

Private

In 2010, Javier Gonzáles's left leg was amputated. He died on April 11, 2018, a month before his 79th birthday in his hometown of Lima.
