Jay Kay
Jason Luís "Jay Kay" Cheetham (born December 30, 1969 in Stretford , Trafford , Greater Manchester , Great Britain ) is a British musician. He became known as the singer of the acid jazz band Jamiroquai , which has sold more than 27 million albums to date.
Life
Kay's youth were shaped by the touring life of his mother, Karen Kay, who worked as a cabaret singer. His twin brother died six weeks after giving birth. As a youth, he was temporarily homeless after arguments with his mother and committed minor crimes in West London. Only in 2003 did he meet his biological father, who is of Portuguese origin.
After an unsuccessful application as a singer with the band The Brand New Heavies , he founded the band Jamiroquai in the late 1980s.
Kay lives on a large estate in Horsenden Manor , which also houses his management and which has, among other things, a small pub .
