Jaybo aka Monk (* 1963 in Paris ; actually Jeremy Baudouin ) is a French artist . He lives and works in Berlin .

Jaybo aka Monk

Jaybo aka Monk was born in Paris in 1963 . At the age of 14 he left home to live on the streets of Paris and Toulouse for the next few years . There he came into contact with the street art culture, in which he became increasingly involved. In the following years he worked as a street actor and rapped as part of the hip-hop crew Reality Brothers .

After moving to Berlin in 1986 , he co-founded the Style and the Family Tunes magazine in the early 1990s , which deals with topics related to music, fashion and cultural events. He also started the streetwear label Irie Daily in 1994 , where he is now chief designer.

In 2006 his first monograph, Lord of Mess, was published. My Head is a Visual Township by Gestalten Verlag . His work, for example, adorns an album cover for the Berlin reggae / dancehall combo Seeed .

Jaybo uses different materials in his art. His works range from painting on canvas to cigarette packets or coke cans as image carriers to a light projection of his work New Wave at the Berlin Cathedral.
