Jazz & Blues Award

The Jazz & Blues Award Berlin was an annual music award ceremony in Berlin , which was launched in 2001 by the “Jazzinitiative Berlin eV” and lasted until 2009.

Characteristic

The Berlin Jazz Initiative, which organizes the award ceremony, is an association of jazz organizers, jazz clubs, musicians and jazz lovers whose aim is to provide the capital's jazz with an appropriate platform.

At the Jazz & Blues Award , which has now become an established event in the German jazz landscape, as evidenced by the growing interest in the media and the increasing number of applicants and visitors, a jury award ( combo award, special award) and award an audience award. The prize figure is the “Ella”, a bronze statue, now also known as the “Berlin Jazz Oscar”. By 2007, nearly a hundred bands and artists had performed at the awards ceremony. For the majority of them, this performance was the beginning of a sustainable career. One of the patrons of the event was Till Brönner , who was honored as a German Jazz Ambassador at the 6th Jazz & Blues Award Berlin 2006 by the President of the German Jazz Federation .
