Jazz Prize of the City of Worms

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

With the jazz prize of the city of Worms , young jazz musicians - preferably from Rhineland-Palatinate and the neighboring regions - are honored for a special performance as a soloist , composer , as a group or for a project and promoted in their further musical development.

The nationally known Worms Jazz Prize is awarded every two years and is endowed with 5000 euros. In addition, the prize winner will be invited by the city of Worms to the “ Worms: Jazz and Joy ” festival in the following year.

Between 2003 and 2013, the City of Worms' Jazz Prize was awarded six times to talents in German jazz. This was made possible by a donation from Worms jazz lover Florian Gerster , which was used up after the award in 2013. The efforts of the Worms cultural coordinator Volker Gallé and the jazz initiative BlueNite eV succeeded in finding supporters who support the project with the result that prize money of 5,000 euros will continue to be available.
