Volker Gallé

Volker Gallé (born May 3, 1955 in Alzey ) is a German dialect author and songwriter.

Life

After graduating from high school on Frankenstrasse in Alzey, Gallé studied German, philosophy and ethnology in Mainz. He completed his studies in 1980 as an MA . He then worked as a music teacher and music therapist and was active as a journalist and in the field of cultural management. On behalf of the city of Worms , he developed the concept for the Nibelungen Festival in 1998 . In 2004 he was hired in Worms as the city's cultural coordinator; His area of ​​responsibility includes coordinating the various communal and private activities in Worms, organizing his own events and planning cultural development.

Since his youth, Gallé has written and set to music literary texts, mostly in the Rhine-Hessian dialect . He has recorded several CDs in various folk formations . In addition, books were published around 1980, initially poetry and short stories, and later travel guides and publications on regional history. In 1993 his play Jakobinischer Bilderbogen was performed in the Mainzer Kammerspiele .

Gallé is honorary chairman of the Nibelungenliedgesellschaft in Worms and deputy chairman of the support association " Projekt Osthofen ".

In 2014, Gallé received the Jakob Steffan Prize from the association “Rheinhessen gegen Rechts” for his work in the support association “Projekt Osthofen” and his work against right-wing extremism . In the same year he was honored for his services to the Rhine Hessian dialect with the “Prize of Emichsburg” of the Palatinate dialect poet contest. In 2015 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his cultural commitment and memorial work.

Gallé is one of the intellectual initiative fathers of the anniversary year 2016: "200 years of Rheinhessen".
