Jean-François Amiguet (* 1950 in Vevey ) is a Swiss film director and screenwriter .

Amiguet first studied political science at the University of Lausanne . After completing his studies, he worked as a technician on a number of films. He worked with the Swiss directors Alain Tanner , Marcel Schüpbach and Yves Yersin , among others . After Amiguet co-founded his own production company called Zagora Films SA in 1991, he has mainly been producing television films since 1994.

Jean-François Amiguet's cinematic work is characterized by versatility. He is constantly changing between formats, between short and long films, feature films and documentaries, cinema and television. He often not only directs, but also scripts and produces.

His film La Méridienne - The House of Sisters ran in 1988 in the Un Certain Regard series at the Cannes Film Festival . According to the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), the feature film In Liebe was nominated for a Golden Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival in 1993 and received the Ecumenical Jury Prize there . Amiguet's fourth feature film Au sud des nuages from 2003 was also nominated for a Golden Leopard and for the Swiss Film Prize .
