Jean-Jacques Kariger

Jean-Jacques Kariger (born October 3, 1925 in Rodange ; † October 11, 2018 ) was a Luxembourgish writer, poet and botanist.

Career

Jean-Jacques Kariger attended elementary school in Rodingen, then the Atheneum and from 1941–1942 the grammar school in Esch-Uelzecht . In July 1944, after graduating from high school, he was drafted into the Reich Labor Service in Rogasen (today Rogoźno ) and in November in the Wehrmacht . After the war he obtained his diploma in 1945. He then worked in the administration as Chief Financial Officer until 1988. Kariger was interested in literature and the natural sciences, especially botany. This was also reflected in his literary work. Jean-Jacques Kariger conducted intensive correspondence with the poet Kurt Erich Buchheld for years and published his poetry posthumously (Rijn Thailand: Die five Ufer des Zwillings. Worms 1984). Jean-Jacques Kariger married Marie-Thérèse Karier from Gilsdref on August 18, 1956 . In addition to her job, she also worked as an author. His wife died in June 2009.
