Jean-Luc Differdange

Jean-Luc Differdange (born October 11, 1951 in Brussels - Ixelles ) is a Belgian-Luxembourg photographer and singer-songwriter .

Life

In 1958 his family moved to Düsseldorf , after which they moved to Cologne in 1962 . Here he finished his school career and was trained as a photographer in Sander Photography by Gunther Sander, the son of the famous German photographer August Sander . After completing his training, he worked as an assistant to Gerd Sander, August Sander's grandson. In 1976 he began his musical career with his first record release, after he had been lead singer and rhythm guitarist in the Cologne beat bands The Dreaming Corporation and The Muffetees since 1968 . By 1990 he released eight albums.

From 1990 he worked with Gerd Sander again in his profession as a photographer on the professional processing of the estate of August Sander, since 1993 as Gerd Sander's assistant in the August Sander archive of the SK Stiftung Kultur , and from 2014 until his retirement in 2017 for the Julian Sander Gallery . For the one-volume edition of the photo project People of the 20th Century by August Sander published in 2010 , he made the prints from the original negatives and carried out the necessary retouching.

From January 2014 he dedicated himself to his musical work, on which he had been working in parallel in the Railroad Tracks studio since 2007 , with the release of six more albums.

He is married and has 3 children.

Radio, television and the Eurovision Song Contest

Differdange has had numerous radio and television appearances since 1974, including in SWF3, SWF1, WDR1, WDR2, Deutschlandfunk, Radio Köln, BFBS, RTBF and in the WWF Club in 1981, 1986 and 1988, and at Einsfestival in April 2013.

He took part in the preselection for the preliminary decision of the Eurovision Song Contest six times : in 1981, twice in 1982, twice in 1984 and 1990.
