Jean-Marc Savelli

Jean-Marc Savelli (born October 18, 1955 in Mulhouse in Upper Alsace ) is a French pianist .

He became known to the public through his interpretations of both romantic compositions by Franz Liszt and Frédéric Chopin , as well as the works of Johann Sebastian Bach , Ludwig van Beethoven and Claude Debussy .

Life

His mother Marie-Louise Schreyer comes from a family of traveling musicians who performed in Eastern Europe before settling in Lower Alsace . His father Gratien Savelli comes from Corsica and often sang lamenti as well as other traditional folk songs from his homeland. Savelli's parents met during World War II .

At the age of eight, Jean Marc was registered by his parents at the Conservatoire National de Musique in Mulhouse with the piano professor Suzanne Muller-Gunst . There he was awarded first prize in the conservatory competition in 1967. In 1968 he was further promoted by Pierre Sancan , who taught at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique in Paris . After successfully passing the entrance examination in 1968, he entered the class of Monique de la Bruchollerie . He graduated from a summer seminar organized by her in 1971 with a diploma. After Brucholleries death, Yvonne Lefébure continued his education.

After public concerts and recordings, Jean-Marc Savelli interrupted his career for family reasons and devoted himself to music therapy during an artistic break . In April 2005 he was one of the speakers at a symposium on spasmophilia ( hyperventilation syndrome ) at the Sorbonne .
