Jean-Marie Camus (born November 12, 1877 in Clermont-Ferrand , France , † June 16, 1955 in Paris , France) was a French sculptor .

Life

Jean-Marie Camus studied with Louis Barnas and Jules Coutan at the École des beaux-arts de Paris . His work included portrait busts and groups of figures in Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles .

Camus exhibited in the Paris Salon des Artistes Français from 1900 and received a gold medal “out of competition” in 1931. In 1908 he exhibited at the Salon des artistes coloniaux . He belonged to the artist group L'Evolution , founded by the Éditeur d'art (art publisher) and sculptor Arthur Goldscheider in the early 1920s with representatives of Art Deco , whose work Goldscheider exhibited in 1925 at the Paris Exposition internationale des Arts Décoratifs et industriels modern .

Camus was accepted as a knight in the Legion of Honor .
