Jean-Michel Frédéric Macron (* 1950 in Picardy ) is a French doctor.

Life

Jean-Michel Macron works as chief physician for neurology at the University Hospital Amiens (CHU d'Amiens) and is also professor of neurology at the Université de Picardie Jules Verne . He heads the research groups “Functional Research of the Adult Nervous System” and “Pathologies of Sleep and Vigilance”. His research focus is on epilepsy and sleep disorders . In 1981 he received his doctorate with the dissertation "Research on the anatomical-functional organization of the phrenic column in cats"; The aim of the work was to better understand how the cat's diaphragm works and how it is controlled by the brain via the phrenic nerve .

He has published scientific papers in journals such as Revue Neurologique , Neurosurgery , Solar Energy , Neuroscience Letters and Brain Research . The topics of his publications are the electrical stimulation of the phrenic nerve as well as the influencing of breathing and sneezing in cats and the role of certain nerves in this behavior. In 2010, he participated in a study to analyze the potentially negative effects of " transcranial magnetic stimulation, " which can detect neurological disorders, and the effects on valves used to treat certain diseases of the brain. Between 2014 and 2016 he worked on a method for treating Parkinson's disease ( deep brain stimulation ). Since 1991 he has been an associate member of the Société Française de Neurologie .

Until the divorce in 2010 he was married to the doctor Françoise Noguès; The three children Emmanuel (* 1977), Lawrence (* 1979) and Estelle (* 1982) came from the marriage . His second marriage to the psychiatrist Hélène Joly had a son.
