Jean Bouillet

Jean Bouillet (born May 14, 1690 in Servian , Région Languedoc-Roussillon , † August 13, 1777 in Béziers ) was a French doctor and encyclopedia .

His father was Jean Bouillet Sr. (1654–1725), his mother Catherine de Conneau (1658–1722). The family also consisted of five sisters and Jean Bouillet jun., So his sisters: Françoise (approx. 1684–1776), Catherine (1684–1780), Marie Anne (approx. 1695–1720), Marguerite (approx. 1695– 1721) and Jeanne Bouillet (* 1700).

In 1707 he started in Montpellier to study medicine in Montpellier and obtained his doctorate in 1711, Docteur en médecine de la Faculté de Montpellier .

In 1715 he settled in Beziers, where he worked for his patients for more than 60 years (see also École de médecine de Montpellier ).

On Saturday, August 22nd, 1722, Jean Bouillet married his future wife Catherine Marsials (* approx. 1700) in Béziers. The couple had two daughters Catherine Jacquette (* 1723), Gabrielle (approx. 1727–1789) and two sons Jean-Henri-Nicolas (1729–1790) and Michel Jean Louis Bouillet (* 1732). Together with his son Jean-Henri-Nicolas Bouillet , also a doctor and encyclopaedist , they contributed with their articles to the publication of the encyclopédie .

From 1722 he was a corresponding member of the Académie des sciences .
