Jean Jacques Desoches , and Jean Jaques Desoches (born 1769; died after 1774) was a French Porzellanmodelleur and repairer , who from 1769 to 1774 in the Fürstenberg porcelain factory worked. Through him, the then modern French art of early classicism after the Rococo gained influence on the production of the Fürstenberg manufactory. On August 3, 1769, on the basis of his references - he presented a certificate attesting that he had worked for the sculptor Pierre Philippe Mignot for a year - Jean Jacques Desoches was initially hired on a trial basis at the Fürstenberg porcelain factory as an embossing and modeller . During his time in Fürstenberg, in addition to dainty miniature figures, he also modeled large figures depicting gods from mythology, or handicrafts such as an arm or chandelier with figures and ornaments. A total of 45 works are ascribed to him. On April 12, 1772, through the mediation of a broker from Carlshafen, he left Fürstenberg and went to Kassel, where he was arrested as a Frenchman, but then returned to Fürstenberg, which he finally left in 1774.

In addition to independent works, he also made copies of foreign models, including the seated figures of Cupid and Venus (based on models by Étienne-Maurice Falconet ), two genre groups based on Meissen models, or used an engraving by L. for the figures of Andromeda and Perseus. Cars as a template. His specialty was to combine figures into larger round groups.

Desoches was influenced by the French painter, draftsman and engraver François Boucher and the sculptor François Marie Suzanne . He was probably familiar with porcelain sculpture through his connection to the porcelain manufactory in Sèvres. Desoches' most important work is a group of 15 porcelain figures of Italian comedians, partly based on the characters of the Commedia dell'arte , who with an average height of 20 cm have very individual facial features, costumes, props, poses and gestures. It was created in collaboration with the German porcelain painter Johann Simon Feilner . This individual execution of the figures can also be seen in Desoches' other works. Among the small-figured works of an allegorical character, these include the Four Seasons as French farmers and the Five Senses as Chinese . Other group representations are the Coffee Society , which is one of his independent works and is considered to be his main work from 1770. a Marchande à crème (cream dealer), a Marchand à oiseaux (bird dealer) and a group with bird farmers . But he not only produced small sculptural groups of figures, portrait medallions and busts were also part of the production program of the factories where he worked.
