Jean Marie Stine (born Henry Eugene Stine on April 13, 1945 in Sikeston , Missouri ) is an American writer and editor. She is best known for the science fiction novel Season of the Witch , which was filmed as Memory Run in 1995. She also published under the name Hank Stine .

Life

Stine's father served in the US Army, which is why the family moved often. In 1966, Stine married Cristine Annette Kindred and a child was born in the same year. The marriage ended in divorce in 1968. Also in 1968, Stine's debut novel Season of the Witch was published , which is about a rapist and murderer who is sentenced to a sex change and how the protagonist slowly finds himself in his role as a woman. The novel appeared in the otherwise pornographic series of paperbacks from Essex House .

From 1979 to 1980, Stine published the science fiction magazine Galaxy . From the mid-1990s, Stine edited over a dozen anthologies, some of which were devoted to women in science fiction and the subject of transsexuality .

In addition to science fiction, from 1994 on, Stine also wrote a number of guidebooks on improving cognitive skills and a biography of the director Ed Wood .
