Jean Paul Friedrich Scholz (* 1831 in Silesia ; † April 25, 1907 in Bremen ) was a German doctor and clinic director.

biography

Scholz grew up in Silesia. He was initially a seaman and naval officer and drove for the Bremen shipping company Friedrich M. Vietor Sons . After an illness, he studied in the 1860s medicine at the University of Breslau and his doctorate Dr. med.

In 1868 he became head of the Bremen hospital . He continued to develop the hospital, which had existed since 1851, and campaigned for a mental hospital . The St. Jürgen Asylum on Sankt-Jürgen-Straße in Bremen-Mitte was created as a psychiatric department , from which the later Bremen-Ost Clinic developed from 1904 . A dispute caused the Bethel deaconess who was in charge to leave . Scholz is said to have been a very pragmatic and liberal clinic director. In 1896 he retired. However, he continued practicing as a private doctor in Bremen until his death.
