Jean Prodromidès

Jean Prodromidès (born July 3, 1927 in Neuilly-sur-Seine , Hauts-de-Seine , France , † March 17, 2016 in Paris ) was a French composer .

Life

Jean Prodromidès came from a family of Greek origin. His father was a lawyer and Jean studied both law and music, among others with Tony Aubin and Noël Gallon at the Paris Conservatory . During his subsequent time in the army, he composed music for army films and thus came into contact with film music. Although he focused mainly on lyric and theater music, Prodromidès made his debut as a film composer in 1956 in the comedy Courte tête directed by Norbert Carbonnaux . In 1990 he was elected to the Académie des Beaux-Arts as successor to Henri Sauguet .
