Raymundus Joannes de Kremer
Raymundus Joannes de Kremer , also Raymond Jean de Kremer , pseudonym Jean Ray and John Flanders (born July 8, 1887 in Ghent ; † September 17, 1964 ibid) was a Belgian writer who published his works in French and Dutch.
Life
De Kremer first worked as an employee in the city administration of Ghent and then became a journalist. He was editor-in-chief and employee of Cinemablad , Journal de Gand , La revue belge and De Dag . De Kremer published his works anonymously under pseudonyms , his works were best known under the names Jean Ray and John Flanders , he still used the names RM Temple , Lucy Lilian Gray , Linda J. Richter , King Ray , Philip Clayson Junior , among others , Alix R. Bantam , Sailor John and others. Most of his works can be classified as fantastic literature (fantasy and horror literature), and he also wrote numerous books for children and young people . His works were particularly well received in the French-speaking world.
One of his most famous novels is Malpertuis , which was first published in German in 1974. It was filmed in 1971 under the direction of Harry Kümel , starring Orson Welles among others , and was successfully launched in Germany in 1974.
