Jeanne Paquette Atkins (* 1949 or 1950 in Bremerton , Washington ) is an American politician ( Democratic Party ).

Career

Nothing is known about Jeanne Paquette's youth. In the 1970s she married her husband John Atkins. The couple have a son named John. She ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the Oregon House of Representatives in 1992 and 1994 . From 1993 to 1994 she served as the Staff Director for the Democrats in the Oregon Senate . She served as the Division Director for Reproductive and Women's Health in the Oregon Department of Human Services from 1998 to 2004 . She has also worked in the private and nonprofit sectors for Planned Parenthood , the United Way of America and the Women's Equity Action League . She was then Chief of Staff for the Oregon House Democratic Caucus from 2004 to 2009 under the speakers at the time Jeff Merkley and Dave Hunt. From 2009 to 2015, she served on Senator Jeff Merkley's staff as his State Director. The Governor of Oregon Kate Brown appointed her on March 6, 2015 Secretary of State of Oregon. She took her oath of office on March 11, 2015.
