Frank L. Dunbar

Frank L. Dunbar (* 1860 on the Atlantic Ocean , † 1945 ) was an American attorney and politician ( Republican Party ).

Career

Frank L. Dunbar was born on a ship on the Atlantic Ocean. His childhood was overshadowed by the civil war in the United States . He attended schools in the then still independent city of Brooklyn ( New York ). In 1882 he moved to Astoria ( Oregon ). At the beginning he worked as a cashier in a grocery store. Then he worked as an accountant. From 1890 to 1894 he held the post as a county recorder and from 1894 to 1898 as a county clerk. He was elected Secretary of State of Oregon in the 1898 election and was re-elected in subsequent years. He held the post on 9 January 1899 to 14 January 1907. Dunbar in 1908 for embezzlement of 100,000  US dollars from the state found guilty of Oregon. He then appealed. The Oregon Supreme Court overturned the verdict and acquitted him of all charges.
