Erwin Fieger

Erwin Fieger (born December 10, 1928 in Töplei , Bohemia , † April 14, 2013 in Stuttgart ) was a German-Czech photographer.

Life

Erwin Fieger was born in Töplei (now Teplá in the Czech Republic ) in 1928 . After studying graphic design at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart from 1951 to 1954, he was a designer and co-author of the photokina exhibition Magic of Color . In 1961 he realized his first own exhibition at the Landesgewerbe-Museum in Stuttgart, entitled Essays in Color . In 1964 he taught photography as a guest lecturer at the Ulm School of Design , and in 1969 he was photographer of the year in the Nordic countries . In addition to numerous honors such as the culture prize of the German Society for Photography in Cologne for services to progress in color photography , he was awarded the honorary prize of the German Culture Prize, Stiftung Kulturförderung München in 1988. Due to irreparable eye damage, he had to stop his photographic activity in 2004 after his last exhibition.

Fieger was an honorary member of the BFF professional association of free photographers and film designers .
