Jeanne Gang

Jeanne K. Gang (born March 19, 1964 in Illinois ) is an American architect .

Life

She studied at the University of Illinois , where she did her Bachelor of Science in architecture. She then completed her Masters at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design (GSD).

After the architectural firm Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) by Rem Koolhaas had worked, she founded in 1997 in Chicago by Studio Gang Architects her own office for architecture and design, which she heads today along with her husband Mark Schendel.

She was a visiting professor a. a. at the Illinois Institute of Technology , Harvard University Graduate School of Design, Yale School of Architecture, and Princeton University Graduate Design Studio.

Jeanne Gang gained international recognition for the design of the Aqua Tower , a 262 m high residential and hotel tower in Chicago. The Aqua Tower won the Emporis Skyscraper of the Year Award in 2009 and was a finalist in the International High- Rise Award of the German Architecture Museum in 2010 .

In 2011 Jeanne Gang was awarded the MacArthur Fellow , a year later she was elected a member ( NA ) of the National Academy of Design in New York , and in 2017 she was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .
