Jeff Barnhart
Jeff Barnhart (* around 1970) is an American ragtime and jazz pianist (also vocals ) of traditional and mainstream jazz .
Live and act
Barnhart began his music career at the age of 14 playing four nights a week in a restaurant in his home state of Connecticut. Here he learned the classic swing, jazz and ragtime repertoire of the early 20th century. He holds a bachelor's degree in music and English and a master's degree in education. In the 1990s he played in Connecticut in the Hot Cat Jazz Band, with which three albums were created. From 2000 onwards he performed constantly as a soloist and band pianist at parties, festivals, clubs and cruise ships. He has also led two bands in the UK: the Fryer-Barnhart International Jazz Band , which focuses on the hot music of the 1920s, and Jeff Barnharts British Band , which plays the swing of the 1930s in small groups .
In later years he put on several albums, appeared as a soloist and led his own formations, such as Jeff Barnhart and His Hot Rhythm (including with Dan Levinson and Vince Giordano ). He recorded The ABC's of Jazz ( Arbors , 2008) with John Allred and Danny Coots , with versions of jazz standards such as “Just One of Those Things”, “In the Still of the Night” and “ Jitterbug Waltz ”. I.a. he played with Ralph Sutton , Neville Dickie , Louis Mazetier , John Sheridan , Brian Holland and Carl Sonny Leyland. In addition to his own label Jazz Alive Records , he recorded for the labels GHB, Summit-World Jazz Records, Music Minus One, Lake Records and PEK, at Arbors with Bob Wilber and Bucky Pizzarelli . In the field of jazz he was involved in 102 recording sessions between 1992 and 2015, according to Tom Lord .
