Career

Davis, who started for the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, played his first international jumping on December 30, 1977 at the start of the Four Hills Tournament 1977/78 in Oberstdorf . However, as in the other three competitions of the tour, he could not achieve a successful placement and ended up in the back places.

At the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid , Davis reached 17th place on the normal hill and 44th place on the large hill.

After the Games, he made his debut in the Ski Jumping World Cup on February 27, 1980, and in his first competition in St. Moritz , he immediately achieved 5th place and a total of 11 World Cup points. So he reached 65th place in the overall ranking of the 1979/80 World Cup season despite only jumping one competition .

In the following year he started again for the Four Hills Tournament. However, this was as unsuccessful as in 1977/78. Only after the tour was he able to jump into the points again on February 15, 1981 in Sapporo, Japan, with 13th place. In Chamonix he even reached 7th place a week later. After winning World Cup points in his last two World Cups in his career in Saint-Nizier and Lahti , he ended his career with 42nd place in the overall World Cup ranking in 1980/81 .
