Jeff Hanson (born March 3, 1978 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin , † June 5, 2009 in Saint Paul , Minnesota ) was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. Hanson was best known for his exceptionally high- pitched falsetto singing, which many listeners thought was a female singing.

Life

Hanson was born in Milwaukee in 1978. At the age of four he learned to play the guitar and at the age of 13 he founded his first band MIJ. The emo band released the 7 "single 300 Miles on One Percent Records in 1996. This was followed by the EP M.IJ (1999) and the Album Radio Goodnight (2000), both of which were released on the independent Caulfield Records label.

In 2002 Hanson began his solo career and first released the album Son on the label Kill Rock Stars . The album received mostly good to very good reviews. So awarded Pitchfork Media , a high score of 8.1 points. In 2004 the self-titled album Jeff Hanson followed . In August 2008 the album Madam Owl was released .

On June 5, 2009, Hanson was found dead at his home in Saint Paul , Minnesota . Initially, a fall was announced as the cause of death by Hanson's family. The coroner was able to detect various drugs, but it was unclear whether it was an accident or suicide.
