Jeff Hartwig (born September 25, 1967 in St. Louis , Missouri ) is a retired American athlete.

The pole vaulter Jeff Hartwig can look back on an astonishingly long career. From 1988 to 2007 he was able to jump the 5-meter mark every year. In 1998, he became the first American to exceed the 6-meter mark. His best performance since 2000 is 6.03 meters.

He celebrated his greatest international success with the silver medal at the World Indoor Championships in 1999 . At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , he finished 11th. In 2000 he failed as the world best of the year in the US Trials for the Olympic Games with a Salto Nullo . In 2008 Hartwig ended his long career as a pole vaulter. He was able to qualify again for the Olympic Games in Beijing , but did not reach the final with 5.55 meters. He completed his last competition on September 24, 2008 at the cathedral jumping in Aachen .

With a height of 1.90 m, his competition weight was 82 kg.
