Jeff Ward (born December 30, 1986 in Washington, DC ) is an American actor . He gained fame primarily through the role of Deke Shaw from the series Marvel's Agents of SHIELD .

life and career

Jeff Ward was born in the US capital Washington DC and grew up in Radnor , Pennsylvania . There he also gained his first acting experience on the theater stage. After graduating from school, he attended the Tisch School of the Arts in New York City with fellow actor Miles Teller . His younger sister works as a primary school teacher.

Ward played his first role in front of the camera in 2005 as a teenager in a guest appearance on the series Criminal Intent . He played his next role in 2011 in the series Body of Proof . In 2012 he starred in the movie Vamperifica: The King is Coming Out . After appearances in The Beauty Inside and The Mentalist , he played the role of Ben in the short film The Girlfriend Game in 2015 , which he himself produced. In 2016 he posed the cult leader Charles Manson in the television movie Manson's Lost Girls .

In 2017 he starred in the second season of the anthology horror series Channel Zero in the role of Seth Marlowe in a leading role. Also in 2017, he auditioned for a small role on Marvel's Agents of SHIELD . After some of the main characters were enthusiastic about his performance, they urged the creators of the series to cast him in a larger role. He was cast as Deke Shaw , who was still a minor character in the fifth season, but was then expanded to a main character at the beginning of the sixth season. In 2019 Ward starred in the role of Trevor in the tragic comedy Plus One .
