Jeffrey DeLaurentis (* 1953 or 1954 ) is an American diplomat and the current head of the mission of the American embassy in Havana .

Jeffrey DeLaurentis graduated from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in Washington, DC and the Graduate School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University in New York City . He also completed another part of his training in "Political Science" at Columbia's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences .

Although the United States has not yet officially appointed a diplomat as ambassador to Cuba , DeLaurentis has had a US Senate- confirmed ambassadorial role as Alternate Representative of the United States for Special Political Affairs since 2011, due to his previous appointment . He took over his current role following the resumption of diplomatic relations between the US and Cuba on July 20, 2015. DeLaurentis has been with the United States diplomatic service since 1991.
