Jegische Marti Rosi Tadewosjan ( Armenian Եղիշե Մարտիրոսի Թադեւոսյան , Russian Егише Мартиросович Тадевосян * September 24 . Jul / 6. October  1870 greg. In Echmiadzin ; † 22. January 1936 in Tbilisi ) was an Armenian - Soviet painter .

Life

Tadevosjan attended the Armenian high school of the Lazarev Institute for Oriental Languages in Moscow and then studied at the Moscow Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture with a degree in 1894. He participated in the exhibitions of the Cooperative of Traveling Artistic Exhibitions , which advocated realism . He was friends with WD Polenow , whom he accompanied on a trip to Palestine and on other trips to the Middle East in 1898 . Later Tadewosjan took part in exhibitions of the Mir Iskusstva . His work was under the influence of the painter Wardkes Surenjanz .

Komitas (1936)

In 1901 Tadevosjan left Moscow. He settled in Tbilisi and taught painting . He now turned to pointillism and expressionism . In 1916 he founded the Union of Artists of Armenia and became its director.

Tadewozjan's grave is in the Yerevan Komitas Park and Pantheon . The art school in Etchmiadzin bears his name. His works are in the Armenian National Gallery in Yerevan, in the State Museum of Arts of Georgia in Tbilisi, in the State Museum of Art of the Peoples of the East in Moscow, in the Polenov Museum Park in Polenov's hometown of Polenowo on the high bank of the Oka in Tula Oblast and also in private collections.
