Jem Paul Karacan (born February 21, 1989 in Catford , London ) is a Turkish football player of northern Cypriot origin. He plays in the position of midfielder .

childhood and education

Karacan was born to a Turkish father, who immigrated to England from the Central Anatolian province of Aksaray at a young age , and an English mother in the London borough of Catford and grew up here.

Career

society

Jem Karacan signed his first professional contract with Reading FC in July 2007 after serving four years in the club's youth academy. The club loaned him to AFC Bournemouth in the Football League One from October 2007 to January 2008 , where he was regularly used until then. Another loan from Millwall FC followed . He returned to Reading in the summer of 2008 and managed to establish himself on the Royals team. In the 2008/09 season he received 15 appearances in the Championship, in which he managed a hit for Reading. In the 2009/10 season Karacan was one of the club's regular squad and played the majority of the games.

On July 9, 2015, Karacan moved to Turkey and signed a three-year contract with Galatasaray Istanbul . For the second half of the 2015/16 season, Karacan was awarded to Bursaspor . At the end of the season he returned to Galatasaray but was put on the sales list. After he could not find a new club and was not included in the squad for the upcoming season at Galatasaray, Karacan trained with the second team. On January 6, 2017, his contract with Galatasaray was terminated.

National team

Karacan caught the attention of the Turkish Football Association's talent scouts early on and was nominated for the Turkish U-17 national youth team in 2006. After his debut on February 21, 2006 during a test match against the Russian U-17s , he received regular nominations for the various youth national teams of Turkey.

In February 2012 he was nominated for the first time for the second selection of the Turkish national football team and made his debut in a friendly against the second choice of Estonia .

In order to compensate for injury-related losses, he was nominated for the Turkish national team together with Serdar Kurtuluş before the 2014 World Cup qualifying match against the Hungarian national soccer team.
