Jemima Kirke

Jemima Kirke (born April 26, 1985 in London ) is a British artist and actress . She became known to a wide audience through her role as Jessa Johansson in the television series Girls .

Life

Kirke grew up in New York . Her father, Simon Kirke , the former drummer for the rock bands Bad Company and Free , has English-Scottish roots. Her mother Lorraine Kirke (née Dellal), the owner of the New York boutique Geminola, is Jewish. Kirke has two sisters and a brother. Her sister Lola is also an actress, her sister Domino is a singer.

In 2009 Kirke married Michael Mosberg, a lawyer with whom she lived in Brooklyn and East Hampton and has a daughter and a son. In 2017, Kirke announced the separation, which took place in the summer of 2016.

For a campaign by the NGO Center for Reproductive Rights , she declared that she had an abortion while studying at the age of 22, and spoke out in favor of an open approach to this issue.

Kirke received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design and had an exhibition in 2011 called "A Brief History".

Kirke has been friends with director, screenwriter and actress Lena Dunham since childhood . She played a role in Dunham's film Tiny Furniture and was on the cast of the HBO series Girls . Jemina also starred in the music video "Dusk Till Dawn" by singer Zayn Malik .
