Jenny Hasselquist
Jenny Hasselquist , also Jenny Hasselqvist (born July 31, 1894 in Stockholm ; † June 8, 1978 ibid) was a Swedish dancer and actress .
Live and act
She received ballet lessons as a child and made a career as a prima ballerina at the Royal Opera . In 1916 she won the director Mauritz Stiller for a film called Balettprimadonnan with her in the title role.
After a long film break, it was the German director Ernst Lubitsch who brought Hasselquist to Berlin for his work Sumurun in the role of the Sultan's mistress . After that she took part in a number of German and Swedish productions, including leading roles in Mauritz Stiller's Johan (1921) and Gösta Berling (1924) and Victor Sjöström's Wer Richt? (1922). Under Edvin Adolphson and Julius Jaenzon she took on a supporting role in the first Swedish sound film Glücksmelodie (1929). In 1930 she withdrew into private life.
