Jens-Holger Göttner

Jens-Holger Göttner (born September 25, 1944 in Hanover ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Göttner obtained his Abitur in 1964. After completing his military service, he studied economics and social sciences at the universities of Hamburg and Göttingen , which he graduated with a degree in economics.

After completing his studies, he worked as an executive assistant at Norddeutsche Landesbank, Hanover. From 1973 he was a consultant in the Lower Saxony Ministry of Social Affairs, including for regional development, labor market policy and housing construction. In 1979 the doctorate to Dr. rer. pol with the topic of youth unemployment and state labor market policy . He worked as a lecturer at the University of Osnabrück in the Labor Department.

In 1980 he was elected as head of department of the city of Garbsen for the areas of urban development, construction, environment and economy. From 1987 he was deputy city director.

In 1998 he was elected as a direct candidate for the Neustadt-Garbsen constituency in the Lower Saxony state parliament . There he was a member of the Constitutional and Legal Committees, Administrative Reform, and Urban Development and Housing.

In 1998 he was appointed State Secretary for the Environment and Regional Planning in Reinhard Höppner's cabinet . In 2000 he was appointed regional president of the Halle administrative district .

In 2001 he was elected chairman of the Central German Regional Forum. He is also a member of the advisory board of the competence network "Central German waste disposal industry. Since 2003 he has been a managing partner of MMG-Management-GmbH, management consultancy in the areas of municipal affairs, municipal management, sewage and waste.
