Jens Jørgen Thorsen
Jens Jørgen Thorsen (born February 2, 1932 in Holstebro , Denmark ; † November 15, 2000 in Waaxtorp , Sweden ), was a Danish painter and illustrator as well as a film director and screenwriter .
biography
After studying architecture for a year, Thorsen began an artistic career as a painter. From 1951 to 1956 he studied art and was also an apprentice bricklayer. He played jazz and formed the Papa Bue's Viking Jazz Band . From 1954 to 1963 he was a cultural and artistic collaborator for the Social Democrats and an art critic for the Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet . Thorsen designed illustrations for Danish publications and wrote books on art. In 1970 he produced his first feature film Stille Tage in Clichy , a film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Henry Miller . In 1971 he wanted to produce a film about Jesus, but this led to violent protests over allegations of blasphemy. It was not until 1992 that he realized a film about Jesus, which, however, gained no meaning.
He is buried in the Assistens Kirkegård in the Nørrebro district of Copenhagen .
