Jens Kern (* 23 October 1982 in Mainz ) is a German football - goalkeeper . Kern has been the goalkeeping coach since the 2017/2018 season and head coach of the Bavarian south-eastern regional division SV Erlbach since the 8th matchday of this season.

Career

Kern began his career with the amateurs of 1. FC Kaiserslautern , where he had already played in his youth, in the Oberliga Südwest . After rising from the league, he played a total of 41 games in the Regionalliga Süd between 2001 and 2004, drawing attention to the second division club Wacker Burghausen, who signed him for the 2004/05 season.

In his first two seasons he could not prevail against Uwe Gospodarek and only came on two missions when he was substituted on for him. In the 2006/07 season he came to three missions during an injury break from Gospodarek in November 2006. In the meantime he was also used in the Bayern League team at SV Wacker.

From November 27, 2009 he played at SV Elversberg . At the end of the season, the contract expired and was not extended. At the beginning of 2011 he was signed by the Upper Bavarian regional upper division club TSV Ampfing . From 2013 to 2016, Kern was active as a coach for FC Mühldorf. Since January 2017 he has been part of the coaching team of the Upper Bavarian state league club SV Erlbach and initially responsible for the goalkeepers until he was appointed interim head coach in August 2017.
