Jens Kragh Høst (born September 15, 1772 in Sankt Thomas , Danish West Indies , † March 26, 1844 in Islegaarde ) was a Danish lawyer , historian and translator .

Life

Høst came to Copenhagen in 1776, entered the civil service as protocol secretary in 1800 after completing his legal studies and became assessor at the court and state court in 1801.

From 1808 on he lived as a private citizen exclusively in literature and died in Islegaarde in 1844 . Høst was a co-founder of the Scandinavian Literary Society and worked in particular for the unification of the three Nordic empires.
