Jens Rickmeyer (born July 5, 1945 in Hamburg ) is a German Japanologist , his specialty is the linguistics of the Japanese language .

Even during his school days, Rickmeyer attended courses in languages ​​such as Hebrew and Aramaic . From 1965 to 1972 he completed his studies in Japanese Studies ( Günther Wenck ), Sinology and General Linguistics at the University of Hamburg , from which he completed his doctorate in 1973. After research work in Germany and Japan and a substitute professor at the University of Marburg , he was Professor of Japanese Studies (Linguistics) at the University of Marburg from 1987 to 1991.
