Jens Roth (actor)

Jens Roth (born September 13, 1964 in Celle ) is a German actor and director.

Life

After studying graphics at the Institute for Graphics and Design Hamburg from 1987 to 1990, he began training as an actor in 1991 at the stage studio for the performing arts in Hamburg. He later switched to the School for Drama in Hamburg , where he completed his training in 1993 with the stage maturity of the joint examination committee. He completed workshops with Dominik De Fazio and Gabrielle Roth. In 2002 a six-month advanced training course at the German Actors and Media Academy Berlin with a focus on media acting followed.

After training as an actor, Roth worked on various theaters in Germany, for example in 1994 at the Schleswig Holsteinische Landesbühne as Sigfried in Hebbel's "Siegfrieds Tod", in 1995 in two leading roles in "The red-haired girl" and "Sacco and Vancetti" at the MOKS vom Bremer Schauspielhaus, 1996 in Johann Kresnik's “Pasolini” at the Hamburger Schauspielhaus and “Riefenstahl” at the Kölner Schauspiel. Furthermore, he played in independent productions such as "Titanic" directed by Annette Stroux and Matthias Mielitz in 1997 in the small water reservoir in Prenzlauer Berg and the title role in "Pastor Ephraim Magnus" in 1998 at DHAS Theater Hamburg under the direction of Christian Liffers. As a theater director, he staged the play "Sunshine" by William Mastrosimone in 2001 at the "Theater Broken Windows" in Berlin.

From 1997 to 2003 Roth played the supporting role of the security guard Thomas Zorn in the soap opera Verbotene Liebe . After 2001 he played in various film and television productions. His film Berlin Angels was nominated for the German Camera Prize in 2013. At the Marbella International Film Festival he received an award for best short film.
