Jerlan Schaqanuly Qoschanow ( Kazakh Ерлан Жақанұлы Қошанов , Russian Ерлан Жаканович Кошанов ; born August 14, 1962 in Aqsu-Ajuly , Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh politician.

Life

Jerlan Qoshanov was born in Aqsu-Ajuly in Shet County in what is now the Karagandy Region and graduated from the Karaganda Polytechnic University in 1984 with a degree in mechanical engineering . This was followed by a degree at the Academy of Foreign Trade of the Soviet Union in 1991 and in 1999 he obtained a diploma in economics at the Kazakh Academy of Management . He then worked as a foreman at Scheskasganzwetmet (Жезказганцветме) in Schesqasghan .

From 1988 he became involved in the communist youth organization in Sheqasghan. Between 1999 and 1995, Qoshanov worked for the Committee on Foreign Economic Relations in Sheqasghan. He then held a seat in the Kazakh Senate for four years . From October 2001 to June 2003 he headed the administration of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan and from 2003 to 2006 he held the post of Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications . After that, Qoshanov was chairman of the civil aviation committee in the same ministry before he was again employed in the administration of the prime minister. Since March 14, 2017, he has been the Akim of the Karagandy region. In April he was also elected regional leader of the Nur Otan party.

Qoshanov has been head of the Kazakh presidential administration since September 18, 2019.
