Jeroen van der Veer (born October 27, 1947 in Utrecht , Netherlands) is a Dutch manager and was CEO of one of the largest companies in the world, the Royal Dutch Shell , until June 2009 .

Life

Van der Veer studied mechanical engineering at Delft University of Technology and graduated as an engineer in 1971. He then began studying economics at the Erasmus University Rotterdam , where he received a Master of Science degree . In 2005 he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Port Harcourt (Nigeria).

He is married and has three daughters.

job

He had been working for the Shell company since 1971. In March 2007 it was announced that his contract would be extended to June 2009. This made him the first Executive Director at Shell to be employed beyond the age of 60.

Since October 2015 he has been the first Non Executive Chairman of the London Speaker Bureau and heads the advisory board of the international speaker agency.

Honors

After his retirement in 2009, he was awarded the Order of Orange-Nassau by Queen Beatrix . In 2010 he became an honorary citizen of Singapore.
