Jerry Jamar Johnson (born April 23, 1982 in Lancaster , Pennsylvania ) is an American basketball player . He plays in the position of playmaker at BK Astana in Kazakhstan .

Career

college

After attending high school in his hometown, Johnson joined the Rider Broncs from Rider University . In his freshman year of college, he was unanimously voted MAAC Rookie of The Year . During his four year college years he was nominated twice (2004 and 2005) for the All-MAAC 1st Team .

professional

Johnson signed his first professional contract for the 2005/06 season with the Polish SKS Starograd. After a year in Poland, he moved to Turkey for the next season . The 2007/08 season, which Johnson spent in France , remained without any notable success. He then signed with Spirou Charleroi in April 2008 . With Charleroi he was three times (2008, 2009, 2010) Belgian champion and 2009 Belgian cup winner. He was elected MVP of the 2010 Finals. After three years in Belgium, he moved to Lietuvos rytas in Lithuania for the 2010/11 season . During the season he moved to Galatasaray Cafe Crown for the ULEB Eurocup Top16 phase . Since the 2011/12 season, Johnson has been playing for the Kazakhstani BK Astana . With Astana he won the Kazakh championship twice and the Kazakh Cup three times. In June 2013, Johnson received Kazakh citizenship and was called up to the Kazakh national team. With Kazakhstan he played the 2013 Asian Cup . At the Asian Cup he was one of the TOP 5 players in this category with 40 assists.
