Live and act

At the age of eight, Mazzoll began his musical education as a student of Tadeusz Kamiński. In the early 1990s, he became part of the nascent yass scene. I.a. he was briefly a member of their flagship band Miłość . He later founded numerous bands of his own, in particular Arhythmic Perfection (founded in 1994). With her he took, among other things, Eric Dolphy's Out to Lunch! inspired live album Out Out to Lunch .

Mazzoll was considered the link between the two centers of Yass, Danzig and Bydgoszcz . On his initiative, the first Festival of New Improvisation Music ( I Festiwal Nowej Muzyki Improwizowanej ) took place in Sopot in 1995 . In 1991/92 he lived in Germany for almost a year, where he took his stage name Mazzoll . There he met Tony Oxley , Peter Brötzmann and Derek Bailey , among others . The latter invited him to the Company Festival in London. In the following years he also lived temporarily abroad, in Germany and the Netherlands.

In autumn 1995 Mazzoll was diagnosed with cancer. He was operated on and played shortly after the procedure with Arhythmic Perfection as the opening act for Fred Frith .

At the turn of the millennium, the yass scene gradually dissolved. Mazzoll's later work is usually classified as New Improvisational Music , but he often experiments with many different musical styles.

In the course of his career Mazzoll played with Django Bates , Peter Brötzmann, Tony Oxley, Peter Kowald , Kazik Staszewski , Marcin Świetlicki and Tomasz Stańko, among others .

His younger brother is Wojciech Mazolewski , leader of the band Pink Freud .
